BRIDGES

Design, replacement and rehabilitation of bridges must combine function, strength and economy of design to achieve the most effective result, a bridge that fills the requirements of a particular situation.

E&M has inspected and load rated hundreds of bridges for the state, county and local governments. Several of the Firm’s employees have had long term responsibilities in bridge design, inspection, remedial measures and plans for rehabilitation. In addition, we also use our computer capability to check the hydrology and run backwater curves when necessary.

Our broad experience is reflected in the variety of bridges, types and materials which have been handled by our Firm including steel, concrete, wood, composite and multiple culverts.

Examples of the different bridges we have designed are listed below.

Fogal Crossing Bridge        Champlin Hollow Bridge

Tuna Cross Road                   Portville Bridge #3
        Bridge

Geiger Hollow Bridge            Allegany State Park

ROADS

We have been responsible for the survey and design of several hundred miles of highways and streets.  Included in our experience is alignment and topographic surveying, right-of-way mapping, geometric layout, roadway and drainage design and specifications, pavement widening, utility relocation and retaining structures.

Our knowledge of the operations of highway departments at the State, County and local levels gives us the necessary insight to provide maintenance or administrative assistance, as well as plans and specifications.
